I’m Simone Ronco
I have been working in the medical device sector for several years and have a keen interest in technology.
Keeping up with regulatory developments has often meant consulting numerous sources, with information spread across documents, institutional websites and communications from different organisations.
This experience sparked my curiosity about how technology, particularly artificial intelligence, could make information easier to find, consult and organise.
I created this website to share the projects that grew out of that exploration: first MDR Navigator, then MDN – Medical Device News, alongside guides and articles covering topics relevant to the sector.
The common goal is to make information more accessible and easier to navigate, while maintaining a clear link to the original sources.
I hope this website provides a useful starting point for anyone working in the medical device sector or looking to learn more about it: a place to follow developments, explore a topic or find useful references.
The projects I’m working on
MDN – Medical Device News
A free weekly newsletter featuring a selection of the most relevant regulatory and institutional developments for medical devices and in vitro diagnostic medical devices (IVDs).
Each issue covers five news items from the previous week, each accompanied by a brief summary and a link to the original source. It also includes Week Ahead, a section highlighting events and developments to follow in the coming week.
The newsletter is in English and arrives by email every Monday at 3:00 PM, Italian time. Issues are published on the website one week after they are sent to subscribers.
MDR Navigator
An AI-powered informational assistant, available through ChatGPT, designed to help users consult the European MDR and IVDR regulations and MDCG guidance documents.
Users can ask questions in natural language to find regulatory information and identify references for further reading.
Resources for the medical device sector
A collection of introductory guides and insights articles covering European regulations and other topics relevant to the medical device and IVD sector, including selected stories featured in the newsletter.
How I work on the content
For MDN, I use artificial intelligence tools to support the monitoring and organisation of updates published by regulatory authorities and industry organisations.
News items are selected and information is checked against the original sources before publication.
